read more closeA winding dirt road, about a mile east of Drake, leads to the lodge’s two-story main building on a hillside above street level where manager Mary Woollis works diligently to provide customer service that is the perfect blend of professional and friendly, putting guests at ease and ensuring they leave feeling like family.
Rooms
The two-story main building holds three standard rooms on the ground level, along with another room, the office, dining area and kitchen on the second floor.
A standard room, $80 per night, all year, includes two twin beds, A/C, private bathroom with standing shower, closet and a desk.
Three detached deluxe rooms, behind the main building, range from $110-$180 per person per night year round, these three, plus the four standard rooms makes for seven total rooms that were all remodeled in 2013.
Four luxury villas, built brand-new in 2013, sit on the hilltop with ocean and jungle views and access to a private kitchen, bar, and infinity pool, $295 per person per night.
Food
Guests have the opportunity to mingle with one another during resident chef Rafa’s homemade delicious meals, which are chef’s daily choice, served family style in the open air dining area.
Breakfast time varies; depending on what activities guests have scheduled, but it can be served anytime between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Daily morning meals always include fresh fruit, and range from ham and cheese omelets, sausage and toast, to homemade pancakes.
Around 1 p.m., lunch is served, during a stay possibilities include a chicken salad atop fresh romaine lettuce or traditional Costa Rican fair of beans, rice, fried plantains and grilled chicken.
Dinners are always unique dishes, over three days maybe indulge in vegetable lasagna and fresh salad, or a taco bar with grilled chicken and beef, guacamole, cheese, salsa and warm tortillas.
No alcohol is sold at Hotel Tranquilo, but guests are welcome to purchase their own in town.
Services and Amenities
Tranquilo Lodge provides complimentary shuttle service in a pickup truck upon arrival and departure from Drake airstrip or any beach in Drake Bay, as well as one complimentary shuttle ride to the Drake town. Additional shuttles are $6 per lift.
Mary will gladly arrange tours and share her knowledge of the surrounding area with guests to enhance their stay.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Laundry service is $5 per load.
