Day 1: Arrival
Fly into San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). Explore downtown San Jose and spend the evening relaxing at your boutique hotel.
Day 2: Whitewater Rafting & Hot Springs
A private shuttle will transport you to the whitewater rafting river of your choice – the Class II-III Balsa River, or the Class III-IV Toro River. After an exhilarating two to four-and-a-half hour river run, you’ll enjoy lunch with fellow rafters and transfer to your Arenal hotel. In the evening, Soak your travel-weary muscles in one of Arenal's famous hot springs resorts.
Day 3: Waterfall Rappelling & Canopy Tour
Discover the thrill of waterfall rappelling – belay backwards down a series of tropical waterfalls, ending at a 200-foot vertical cascade. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you traverse the lush rainforest canyon, from one gripping descent to the next. After you’ve finished, tuck into a typical Costa Rican lunch in a rainforest tree house. In the early afternoon, head to Arenal’s best canopy tour, where eight zipline cables (one stretching a half mile!) send you flying past a smoking Arenal Volcano. End your day with a relaxing massage or spa package at your hotel’s tranquil day spa.
Day 4: Wildlife Watching & Surfing Lessons
Enjoy your morning in La Fortuna before a flight whisks you away to the sun-drenched beaches of Manuel Antonio. You’ll arrive just in time for your afternoon surf lesson, where you can learn some surfing basics or brush up on your wave skills. You’ll finish as dusk arrives, the ideal time for a romantic sunset sail. Keep your eyes trained on the horizon, since Manuel Antonio is known for excellent dolphin and whale watching – you may glimpse humpback whales, bottlenose and spotted dolphins, and even the occasional killer (orca) whale.
Day 5: Snorkeling and Relaxing
Today is your day to explore Manuel Antonio, a paradise for bird and wildlife watching, beachcombing and adventure activities. Have some fun snorkeling in clear, turquoise waters, or swimming in protected coves. You can’t miss a Manuel Antonio National Park guided hike – your naturalist guide will help you spot white-faced monkeys, coatimundis, sloths, and other forest dwellers. In the evening, unwind at a jungle spa – try a slimming algae body wrap, a papaya facial, or a divine hot stone massage.
Day 6: Sport Fishing & Departure
Wake up rested for this morning’s four-hour sport fishing trip. Depending on the season, plan to reel in barracuda, blue marlin, mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo, and yellowfin tuna. If you’re so inclined, turn your catch into a deliciously fresh sashimi lunch before catching the 3:00 p.m. flight back to San Jose. If your plane doesn’t leave until the following day, we’ll gladly arrange your hotel for the evening.
