Restaurante Nene's
Local tips are something of a mixed bag. On one hand, locals know the most about the area, on the other they could just be helping out their friend's business. With that in mind, I headed for Restaurante Nene tucked away on a dirt road half a block northeast of Don Rufino.
read more closePlanting myself at the bar with a couple of old friends, we ordered a few pints of beer and, on local advice, went for a plate of ceviche. After hurtling the language barrier, we ended up with two orders and were delighted to see each plate piled with sturdy, golden brown tortilla chips perfect for scooping the tilapia chunks, diced red peppers, onions and chopped parsley; Everything we'd hoped for and more, it was savory, crunchy and fresh.
Ambiance
Laid back, casual dining where you'll encounter locals on a night out.
Service
Friendly, though not very knowledgeable about the food. Many of the servers only speak Spanish, but that's how you know it's a local spot.
