Hotel Poseidon has 14 beach-sheik rooms, each with heavy drapes, faux walls and a palm tree painting. The 10 premium rooms, $96, come with two twin-size beds, A/C, fan, desk, safety deposit box, cable, Wi-Fi and mini fridge. The rooms appear to be recently updated, but the bathrooms lack the same panache. Blue mosaic-tile bathrooms look a little worse for wear with some dark spots in the grout and a rusty soap dish in the shower.
Restaurant
Poseidon restaurant's an open air-patio looking out to the street that lets in the ocean breeze. Known for its seafood, the restaurant makes a delicious pan-fried trout almadine with shaved almonds and citrus marinated onions and peppers. The menu has all the Costa Rican fare… chicken, fish, steak, pasta and burgers with a few creative additions like the house salmon dip made with cream cheese, orange juice and brown sugar - not great, but hey it's different.
