La Isla Inn has an antiquated wood cabin feel. Renovated in 2004, the inn incorporates local hardwoods like laurel and almond in the construction of each of its five standard and seven deluxe rooms with either beach or garden views and shaded patios furnished with hammocks or benches. Inside the deluxe rooms, $68 in the dry season (Sept.-Nov.) with breakfast, have natural wood bed frames including a head board of polished driftwood as well as dressers, bedside tables, and desks. Amenities include A/C, fans, Wi-Fi and security deposit boxes.
Restaurant
The restaurant at La Isla Inn offers breakfast and lunch. Open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the restaurant serves continental breakfast that comes with eggs, toasts and coffee or Tico style with gallo pinto (mixed rice and beans), fruit, eggs and coffee. The lunch menu encompasses Costa Rican favorites like hearty helpings of arroz con pollo (fried rice with chicken), $8, with a side salad as well as coconut-infused Rice and beans with Caribbean-style chicken, $8. La Isla Inn also has a variety of beach eats including salads and sandwiches using homemade bread like in the grilled chicken sandwich, $8, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion and avocado; served with fries.
Services & amenities
La Isla Inn pays for an on-duty lifeguard on its section of Playa Cocles. Across the street, local surf instructors offer lessons, $50 for two hours, per person, and board rentals for $20 a day.
